Can I still take breaks from live-in placements?

Posted on March 19, 2020

It is important that you still take breaks from live-in placements, but you may need to make changes to activities that you normally complete on your breaks for the safety of everyone in the household.

You must follow guidance that everyone should take all steps to reduce and minimise social interaction between people. If the client you are working with is self-isolating, it may be necessary to take additional self-isolation steps.

We understand that carers often use breaks to stay active and exercise. We are seeing lots of online exercise classes starting up that can be completed in the home - search “home workout” on YouTube for some examples.

You should discuss your breaks with the customer to ensure appropriate steps are being taken.
