Can I reduce my care schedule to reduce the amount of contact time there is between the carer and the care recipient?

Posted on March 24, 2020

If you would like to reduce the amount of care provided by your carer, the cancellation policy will apply to any cancelled shifts, which is 2 weeks.

You can talk to your carer directly to make an agreement to reduce the amount of care for a period to ensure they are supported during this reduced period should it be longer than 2 weeks, which may involve paying for some shifts or agreeing a certain fee.

If you are ‘shielding’ the guidance is to avoid all unnecessary contact and therefore it is prudent to update your schedule to minimise unnecessary contact from people from outside the household, while observing all the other social distancing and hygiene provisions.
